What's Actually Open at 2nd and PCH Right Now, and What's Still Coming

Brodard was supposed to open on Oct. 1. In early September, Longbeachize reported that the Fountain Valley Vietnamese restaurant would open that day in the former Tocaya space at the 2ND & PCH complex, serving 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Oct. 1 came and went. On Oct. 23, the shopping center's homepage still said "Opening Soon." By the next day, the Brodard page on the 2ND & PCH site said "Now Open," with those same daily hours and a phone number, (562) 596-5044.

The opening landed more than three weeks after the announced date. The four corners of 2nd Street and Pacific Coast Highway have become the place where regional food names open their first Long Beach locations. Each one shows up on its own timeline, so the most useful thing to know before you drive over is which places are actually serving.

Every Corner Is Hosting Someone's First Long Beach Location

Look at where this year's arrivals come from. Almost none of them started in Long Beach, and most of them are opening their first location in the city here:

  • Brodard, based in Fountain Valley and named to the Los Angeles Times list of the best restaurants in California, calls this location "Brodard by the Shore."
  • Pura Vida Miami, the wellness cafe from Omer and Jennifer Horev, is the brand's fourth California location after Malibu, Beverly Hills and Costa Mesa.
  • Proudly Serving, the South Bay smash burger spot, used to run a pop-up inside Beachwood in Downtown Long Beach. Owner Matt McIvor spent a long time looking for a permanent home in the city.
  • Sweetgreen opened its first Long Beach location in the Marketplace, just west of Trader Joe's.
  • IYKYK! Coffee Lab comes from Orange County and is opening its first Long Beach location at Marina Pacifica.
  • Alfred Coffee has more than 20 locations across LA County and none in Long Beach yet.
  • Aloha Stacks has been serving ube pancakes since opening in Dana Point in 2010. The family-owned chain has announced its first Long Beach location for Marina Market Place.
  • Nantucket would be the first expansion of Montauk, a supper club in Redondo Beach.

This is happening after a hard stretch for restaurants in the city. Longbeachize's Brian Addison wrote in his 2026 openings tracker that 2025 was one of the roughest years for Long Beach restaurants, even though nearly 40 new food spaces opened across the city that year. Against that backdrop, eight outside brands choosing a single intersection makes 2nd and PCH unusual. Most of these spaces also had other restaurants in them before. Brodard took over Tocaya's space, Pura Vida replaced Noble Rotisserie, IYKYK is moving into a former Starbucks, and Nantucket would take over the old Jade space.

Open and Serving This Week

Here's what is serving now, with hours as each business or shopping center posts them.

Spot Where Posted hours
Brodard 6480 E. Pacific Coast Hwy., Suite 100, 2ND & PCH Daily, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Pura Vida Miami 6460 Pacific Coast Hwy., Suite 125, 2ND & PCH Mon. to Sat., 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sun., 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sweetgreen 6451 E. Pacific Coast Hwy., the Marketplace Mon. to Thu., 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fri. to Sun., 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Proudly Serving 6332 E. Pacific Coast Hwy. Check before you go
IYKYK! Coffee Lab trailer Marina Pacifica, main level Fri. to Sun., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Brodard has the most to explore. Its signature dish is nem nướng cuốn, a spring roll made with a grilled pork patty. The menu also includes bánh khọt tôm, small crispy rice cakes topped with shrimp, along with broken-rice plates and bún chả tôm. Longbeachize described traditional Vietnamese food as a small but growing part of the city's dining scene. It named Sesame Dinette and Pickle Banh Mi as the other places serving it. As of late October, Brodard's own website lists only its Fountain Valley location, so the shopping center's page is the best place to check hours.

At Proudly Serving, Longbeachize notes one detail specific to Long Beach. This is the only location with its chicken sandwich on the permanent menu. The Proudly Serving website lists the 6332 E. Pacific Coast Hwy. address but doesn't post hours, so check before making a special trip.

The Coffee Stop That Opens Only on Weekends

IYKYK! Coffee Lab shows best how the corner is filling in. The permanent café is still being built inside Marina Pacifica, so for now the brand serves coffee and matcha from a vintage trailer parked out front. According to Marina Pacifica's IYKYK page, the trailer sits between Barnes & Noble and Chipotle on the main level. Enter through the main entrance, take your first left, and it's on the right. It's open Friday through Sunday only, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stop by on a Tuesday and you won't find it.

Bobby Hernandez, former owner of Recreational Coffee, praised the brand's Huntington Beach café. He told Longbeachize it was family-owned and said, "One guy made me one of the best espressos I've had in a minute there."

Signed and Announced, but Not Open Yet

The rest of the intersection is still waiting. Brodard's history is a good guide to how these openings tend to unfold. Before the Oct. 1 date was announced, Roberto Lemus, a representative for 2ND & PCH, told Longbeachize, "As of right now, we don't have a specific date as to when Brodard Long Beach is opening. But it is coming sometime in 2026." First it was sometime in 2026, then Oct. 1, and it finally opened in late October. These four are at various points along that same path:

  1. Gigi's, 6204 E. Pacific Coast Hwy. Chef Jason Witzl is turning the former Picarelli's into an American comfort food restaurant. In August, Longbeachize reported that construction had started and that the restaurant was expected to open in the first quarter of 2027.
  2. Alfred Coffee, 6200 Pacific Coast Hwy., Suite B. It's taking over the former Local Spot at the southwest corner of PCH and Loynes Drive. No opening date has been announced.
  3. Aloha Stacks, Marina Market Place. The ube pancake restaurant has announced the location, but its own location list doesn't include Long Beach yet.
  4. Nantucket, 6380 E. Pacific Coast Hwy., Suite A, Marina Pacifica. It was announced in June with an East Coast seafood and steak menu and live music. No opening date has been announced.

When one of these does open, the shopping center's own tenant page is the most reliable place to check. Brodard's "Now Open" showed up there a day after the center's homepage still said "Opening Soon."

A Saturday Around Nov. 28

The corner also connects to a busier stretch of 2nd Street to the west. A few blocks in that direction, Belmont Shore has seen its own first-time arrivals this year. Massimo's opened Feb. 4 at 5616 E. 2nd St. in Naples, run by Massimo Aronne, the longtime host at Michael's on Naples. Anna's Pizza Joint opened in March at 5351 E. 2nd St. South of Nick's, the Irvine-based Nick's Restaurant Group's Mexican restaurant, opened June 15 in the old Citibank building at 5354 E. 2nd St.

The Belmont Shore Business Association has scheduled its Shop the Shore Small Business Saturday for Saturday, Nov. 28, from 8 a.m. until just before 10 p.m. The event page promises free parking all day but doesn't say which lots or meters are included. Here's one way to spend that day using only places that are open now:

  1. Start with coffee at the IYKYK! trailer at Marina Pacifica after it opens at 10 a.m. Saturday is one of its three days.
  2. Head west on 2nd Street for Shop the Shore while the free parking applies.
  3. Have lunch at Anna's Pizza Joint or South of Nick's on 2nd Street.
  4. Finish with dinner at Brodard back at 2ND & PCH. Plan to sit down well before its 9 p.m. close.

The following Saturday, Dec. 5, the Belmont Shore Christmas Parade runs on 2nd Street from 6 to 9 p.m., with Santa in the lineup. If Gigi's stays on schedule, it will be the next opening to watch after the holidays.

If you're watching 2nd and PCH because you might sell nearby or start your search around the Shore, Elizabeth Sanchez and Team Sanchez can walk you through how these corners are changing, in English or Spanish. Schedule your free consultation, and we'll start with the blocks you already know.
